Historic 1912 St. Michael's Church and Rectory on a 2-acre parcel in Witherbee, New York, in the Town of Moriah, Essex County, NY. Built to serve the Polish Catholic iron ore mining families of Witherbee, this two-building property pairs a 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom rectory residence with a 2,000+ square-foot former church sanctuary without deed restrictions. The 2,664-square-foot rectory features wood floors throughout, four bedrooms, and an enclosed porch on each level. The custom tiled bathroom includes a jetted soaking tub and a separate walk-in shower. The rectory works as a full-time residence, a second home, a caretaker's quarters, or guest lodging alongside the church. The church building offers more than 2,000 square feet of open floor plan beneath its original stained glass windows. The sanctuary can serve as an event venue, wedding and reception hall, art gallery, artist or maker studio, recording studio, performance and concert space, yoga or wellness studio, retreat center, co-working space, café, antique showroom, museum, or one-of-a-kind residence. Combined with the rectory, the property also suits a live-work arrangement, a bed and breakfast, or a retreat with on-site lodging. The opportunities are endless. The 2-acre lot gives room for plenty of parking, gardens, and outdoor ceremonies. Witherbee is minutes from Port Henry, with Lake Champlain marinas, boat launches, and waterfront parks. Lake Placid, NY and Burlington, VT are each just over an hour away, which puts Olympic Region attractions, ski areas, airports, and Vermont's largest city within day-trip range. St. Michael's Church and Rectory in Witherbee, NY is a rare chance to own a piece of Moriah's iron mining heritage with the freedom to define its next chapter. Being sold As-Is. Buyers must verify all intended uses with Town of Moriah zoning/building department.
